There are many facts about the Southwest Indians. One fact is that they built their homes out of sticks, stones, and clay that is called adobe. They often built their homes on steep mesas to protect them when the enemies attacked.
The Southwest Indians hardly had any rainfall. The Southwest Indians had to get water to their crops so they used irrigation. Irrigation is a way of supplying water to crops with streams, ditches, or pipes. Some groups dug up long narrow ditches from river to fields. The Southwest Indians planted their crops where the floods would normally be.
