Testing, testing, testing... that's what this week has been about! Luckily the flu bug has stayed out of 5-1 and we had perfect attendance this week, so there's no make-up testing to do. The students took seven state mandated tests this week: 3 in reading, 3 in math, and 1 in writing. All of my students really worked hard and tried their best. I am very proud of their efforts.
To reduce the stress of the testing, we had a few out-of-the-ordinary things. Thursday was cereal day. I provided two "milk stations" and the 5-1 students brought their favorite cereal to eat at school before that day's test. Friday was pajama pants day and the Annual ISAT Coupon and Prize Extravaganza Giveaway. Students earned "ISAT Tickets" throughout the week and then a raffle was held. There were many winners and the kids won new mechanical pencils and maps of the United States. Some lucky winners also won coupons for free books, computer game time during noon hour, sitting in a padded chair all day, and lunch with Mrs. Nelson and three friends.
We're all looking forward to having things back to normal next week.
Many students dressed in comfortable pajama pants for 5-1 Pajama Pants Day on Friday, March 5th.
There's nothing like having a bowl of cereal before taking a test!
